NEW YORK TIMES ENDORSES JOYCE JOHNSON IN NEW YORK’S 15TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Candidate earns pivotal endorsement in her race to represent Upper Manhattan in Washington.
NEW YORK CITY – On Saturday, September 4th, the New York Times recognized the need for new leadership in Northern Manhattan by endorsing Joyce Johnson for Congress in the Democratic Primary for New York’s 15th Congressional District. In a clear statement of support, the Times praised Ms. Johnson as a person who has always been a “strong advocate for women’s rights and civil rights.”
Early this year, Ms. Johnson began her campaign knowing voters in the 15th District were hungry for a fresh direction in governance. As New York State Field Director for Obama for America in 2008, she embarked on a journey to change the culture of Washington, and is poised to take the next step in reforming government and finding common sense, responsive solutions to our challenges as a community and a nation.
In a recent speech to supporters Ms. Johnson said, “I am humbled and grateful for the support of the New York Times. As a candidate who brings 25 years of public service to the table, you know I will continue the fight for better schools, more affordable housing and economic justice for the residents of Upper Manhattan. I’m eager to take my hands-on experience in the district to Washington and put it to work for you.”
